Goa’s Famous restaurants

Goa is justly famous for some really good restaurants. Generally stand-alone, these restaurants are our favourites too.

J & A’s Little Italy – On the Baga Creek, is this wonderful place, serving Italian home-style food. Fresh pastas, wood fired pizzas and melt in the mouth desserts, you cannot beat J & A’s.

House of Lloyds – Just a short drive away from Wildflower Villas, this pleasant garden restaurant serves Goan and continental dishes. There are special BBQ days – do try the steaks which are excellent. Prawn Caldine is a good choice. There are some very good fruity cocktails and Martinis. Few day of the week there is live music.

Bomras – In Goa’s incredibly impressive portfolio of good eating out options is Bomra’s, a fabulous Burmese eatery. Located on the Candolim-Sinquerim road (about 15 mins drive) from Wildflower Villas, Bomra’s has authentic Burmese food. The owner/chef Bomra is Burmese, and has been running top-notch restaurants around the world.
Ask Bomra for help with ordering. Our favourites here are tea-leaf salad, beef salad, Khauseway and the Tamarind Margaritas. Basically, everything you order is tasty and intriguing.

Our favourites on the beach.

You simply cannot come to Goa and not spend a day or an evening at the beach. The closest beach to us is also one of the best in Goa, Candolim beach. We can drop you to the beach and pick you up for a tiny charge. Do check with the Reception for the timings of the drop. The following are the two beach restaurants/shacks that we can drop you to.

CalamariLovely beach restaurant with a buzz. There is loads of space, some under cover, some out under palm cover. There are chairs and there are deck-beds, take your pick. Try some of their lovely cocktails and some awesome Tandoori food. Our favourites here include a killer Watermelon juice and Vodka combo, Tandoori prawns, Pomphret Reichado and Calamari in butter garlic sauce.

Bon Appétit Bar & RestaurantA more relaxed beach resto compared to Calamari, Bon App as it is known with its regulars, is located between the Taj Fort Aguada and the Taj Holiday Village (now called Vivanta…). Bon App has three kinds of seating/lounging; deck-beds on the beach and on the sundeck, easy cane chairs for whole day lounging and a little more formal dining table and chairs under thatch cover.

The tandoor food is excellent here as are some of the Goan dishes like prawns rava fried, fried fish and calamari.
